MUSINGS - Forgiveness from the heart

Human pride is never so great as when it imagines that the forgiveness that we extend to each other may be compared to the forgiveness which we have received from our heavenly Father. It is for this reason that Jesus reminds us that the forgiveness the Father requires must be from the heart.

Bill,

Thanks for the reminder that in our emotivistic culture the phrase "from the heart" more often than not is misunderstood. Perhaps a more accurate rendering of the sentence for 21st century men and women would be something like the folowing:

"So will my heavenly Father do to you,
unless each of you repeatedly choses to forgive your brother."

In Christ,
Vaughn
